Default New to Mazdas

Hey y'all, just bought my first Mazda the other day and it seems to be running fine. Im just curious if there are any known issues that i need to be watching for. Its an 02 Protege5, Auto, with 191k on the odometer. Any info or insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. The biggest problem with that generation Mazda is rust but that should be easy to identify. Did it come from a dry salt free area?

Hey thanks. No it came from Seattle and i live in Nebraska. It already has a little bit of rust around the windshield, but nothing too crazy yet.

Looks like you found a good one.

I drove a P5 when new and loved it. It was like nothing I had driven before. Extremely tight handling. Loved it but couldn’t justify buying one. Now, on the East coast, they are more rust then steel.
