I have a 2003 Mazda Protege and experiencing a loss of power as well. In the first and second gear it "shutters" as I accelerate. At the same time, I am getting a P0171 error (too lean). My firendly shade-tree mechanic has suggested that it may be the MAF and/or spark plugs. Any thoughts?

By the way, is there a hanes manual available for this model, or an equivalent vehicle brand?

I am having a problem with my Mazda etude.the car does not get power when I eccelerate.it does not have speed at all but sometimes have speed sometimes no speed.the exhaust sometimes have a sound like a bullet when u rev the car.
