2007 cx7 sports 2.3 turbo I broke the alignment groove on my camshaft when trying to set the timing can I still use that camshaft or do I need to buy a whole new camshaft. I believe that groove in the end of the camshaft is only for alignment. Thanks

 

You could carefully measure the alignment (pia) but the best thing to do is replace the camshaft. If you are lucky, you may be able to find an auto recycler that may have one. If you do and are not sure of the condition you can take a few picture of it and post it here I can give you an assessment of it condition. But basically, you are looking at the journals for scoring marks. The lopes are almost Imposible to flattening on most 4 cylinders of your type of engine.
