Flashing check engine light

First time I've seen this happen,usually it just stays on.
Any idea what this could mean?
She's driving fine
97 Protege LX 1.5L 5 speed

hi Louis!
It's been a while.

The flashing light means you should have taken care of the constantly on light. Conditions are now so bad that the catalytic converter is about to melt down.

You say it has been driving fine, but that is only your subjective impression. In reality this car has been consuming more fuel than needed and performed at a reduced level.

Go to a parts store and get the codes scanned. Let us know the codes here.

Flashing usually means misfire, which is not good for nothing, and can melt you catalytic as raw fuel enters the hot catalytic.
