Unhappy ABS AND Ebrake light stay lit 2001 Protoge

After changing brake shoe pads and rotors, I STILL have the ABS lamp AND the Ebrake lamp lit on the dash of my 2001 Protoge. Today, when coming back from a local store, I found that when slowing down to turn into my driveway, the brake pedal began throttling and chattering against my pressed foot! Also, for the past MONTH it has been sluggish on acceleration--like it doesn't want to go when I NEED it to (i.e. going from 45 to 70 when entering a highway). Can anybody help? I am broke, it's almost Christmas...thanks and Happy Holidays!

E-brake is attached to rear brakes. If it gets seized it will "hold you back" and be sluggish. After driving for a bit, touch your rear rotors/drums and if they are real hot then you have found your problem as e-brake cable has seized and is partially applying your rear brakes.
Hopefully this pic will cheer you up!

check the brake fluid level. the chattering you felt is the abs working, so that might rule out a disconnected sensor. parking brake: when you apply the emergency brake, it should click about 7 times. if less than that, the e brake might not be releasing the rear brake shoes completely. raise the rear of the car and spin the wheels by hand. they should spin freely, maybe with a slight drag. if the drag you feel is rather heavy check that the return springs for the brake shoes are installed correctly or adjust the e brake. it is possible that the e brake needs adjustment and the abs is engaging because the rear wheels where about to lock. the abs light might be on because the fluid level is low. if there was a problem with the abs, the abs computer would not engage the abs. let us know what you find. i can give you the home mechanic procedures (from the haynes book) to check the abs if needed. keep us posted.
