Have seen in earlier forums that the door actuator needing replacement is not unusual, if not expected. However, didn't see anything for the driver door.
I am not a mechanic or even very car repair savvy so i am going to ask what i ask cause i don't know how else to get to this. I can not continue to exit/enter the car thru the passenger side nor can i get any other service done and expect anyone bigger than me to do so....
Can it be replaced? Are affordable parts available, where? Is it possible to get a schematic or diagram on replacing one - don't have the bucks the dealership is going to want to do it?
Any and all suggestions/help is welcomed. Thank you.

 

Search for Google Images "99 protege door lock actuator". You will find a lot of information to get you started. Call your local Mazda dealer to find how much they charge for one and compare to what you can get on-line. E-bay motors is a good source for the kind of information you need as well.

the parts are cheap. go to any parts store and i can garentee it is about 10% less for the part than the dealership will see to you. google it it will be on there if you can't find it message me or anyone and ill tell you how to do it ive done lots.
