My son has a 99 mazda protege 1.6L auto transmission.
On cold starts when he puts it in reverse it goes fine (no problems) when shifts to drive it hesitates quite awhile then jumps into gear. After driving a little while and getting to a average opperating tempature it goes right into gear and will be fine untill it sits for several hours and cools back down completly. All other gears shift fine...just going into drive on a cold start is a problem.

Any ideas??
