97' Protege DX AUTO Idling Problem
Here is my problem:
Whenever icome to a stop at a red light, stop sign, etc, the engine idles roughly, and for a second it seems if the car is going to stall, and the battery light comes on for a split second while that is happening. Is this a symptom of a bad pcv valve, and if so, where is that located in the engine so i can replace it?
thanks in advance

Bad PCV valve isn't going to make it do that. Check the standard tune up stuff first.. Plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter. If you haven't done the PCV valve, do it then. They are cheap. On a 1.5l and 1.8l it is on the top left of the valve cover. Check the belts for propertightness, and replace if the haven't been done in a while.Should put some Techron fuel injector cleaner in too...

That seems strange. Like MazdaES, I wouldn't think that a clogged PCV valve would cause such noticable symptoms. The PCV valve regulates the ventilation of blow by gases from the crank case. If they can't vent, I suppose they end up being forced back into the cylindars during intake. Maybe this could cause it to run rough like you describe. Interesting.
