Question 95 Left Drive Axle Protege

Hi,

I'm new to this Mazda forums. I have posted in several other automotive forums but it has been awhile.

My wife's Protege trany seems to be slipping when ever the fluid level gets to low. Go figure. The left drive axle is bad and tore up the seal on the trany from vibration. I have replaced a few drive axles in the past but never in a Protege. I'm commuting out of state for work and really need some help with possible issues with doing this job. I'm not afraid of tackling this project but I will only have a week end to get it done. I was wondering if I can move the strut far enough out of the way to pull the axle out. I did manage to do that with a Honda Civic before. Well, any for sight in to doing this job would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance,

Bret
