Default 91 protege won;t start please help

this car died on the way home from work. after it sat for about 30 mins. I was able to start it. I drove it for about 20 more mins then it died a second time. This time it wont restart. I did the old spark test, there is no spark. I went an replaced the igniter and the coil. but that did not fix it. What else do I check?

I am not sure what you call the igniter.
And you confuse me even more: "but that did fix it". I assume you meant to say it did NOT fix it. Or why would you ask for help?

There are 5 ignition wires. If the wire from the coil to the cap is bad you have no spark. I would replace the wires. Next thing is cap and rotor. They wear out.

Then check if the timing belt is good. If the timing belt is broken the distributor at the end of the camshaft will not move.

I corrected my post. " it did not fix it" according to the chilton book there is a device that is between the PCM and the ignition coil. The book called it a igniter. how many volt should the coil put out?

Coils can pump out from 20,000 to 60,000 volts.

Could be the ignition circuit on the ECM has gone bad. Not being funny, but a very low COLD CRANKING AMP on the battery could cause problems too. I had a battery that would start the car, the car would run, but it would skip, miss, etc. I had the battery tested and it was supposed to be putting out 600 CCA and it was actually putting out 100 CCA. I would remove the battery and have it load tested for free at an auto parts place. Check to make sure fuel pump is working, but I assume your spark test was done right and showed spark so that is probably not the issue but it is worth checking.

Cam/crank position sensors get old and start playing up when the engine is hot. Get a code check, depending on price just replace the sensor.
