This has happened 2 times in about 2000 miles driven. Both times we pull up to a light and stop. When you press the accelerator, the car dies. The car has an automatic trans. We put the car in N, and it starts fine. The last time we took it to the Mazda dealer and they could find nothing wrong. Any thoughts on this ghost?

 

I have an 02 tribute that I received a recall notice on accelertor cable. Took it in, I was also told that there was a program error that would cause the car to just die for no other reason, they fixed that also. I'd suggest you pass that on to your dealer, not not apply to you, but still.
