2000 Mazda Protege CEL (code P0402) Excessive EGR Flow

I have a 2000 Mazda Protege and the CEL keeps coming on. I have read the code and it is a P0402 (Excessive EGR flow). I have removed the intake and cleaned the EGR ports, Throttle body has been cleaned. I reinstalled the intake and cleared the code and it reamained off for about a week and yesterday it came back on. I have checked the vacuum to the boost solenoid and it is good. I'm not sure what part I should be looking to replace. I'm thinking the solenoid and the sensor. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I got the same problem and did the same procedures you did but still getting the error after a while. So I expect you already solved the problem as it is since 2008. What fixed this problem?
