I have a 1995 Mazda protege S 1.8L, automatic. And it wont start anymore. I checked the battery with a meter and it reads 12v. The fuses look fine as well. There is a red light in the middle of the dash ( some sort of alarm) that flashes even when the battery is so weak it wont start the car, but it's no longer flashing.

The car went to the garage last year for a lot of work and my friend and i drove it from the garage to my place. I left it for the winter inside but i forgot to start it so it died. My neighbor and I jump-started it in the spring and as I was letting idle when I noticed the temp started to get too hot too fast. So I put it back inside and now it just wont start 1-2 months later.

does the engine crank? or is it quite? when you turn your key to battery can you hear your fuel pump prime? it should make a humming sound for 2 sec.
