Is it normal for this engine to have no power until about 2000 RPM. It feels like something is dragging behind me until I get to 2000 RPM and then it takes off smoothly. 30k miles. All original

 

It feels like its starting out in 2nd gear instead if downshifting into 1st but it is not because I shifted into 1st at a stop and floored it and same result. My buddy has the same exact car and when he floors his car the tires break loose. His car seems to have like 20 more torque down low
