Default Low idle on MX3 - V6 year 1994

Hi

I have a problem, when the car is hot is has low idle rpm's

I have tried to adjust idle air screw, but I am unable to make the rpm higher, I can hear that it takes more air in thru the filter, but it does not get more rpm's

Also when the car is hot I need to crank it two times before it starts, or press a bit on the gas pedal.

It runs fine when I have started it but a bit low in rpm's

Clean your throttle body and or carburetor with appropriate carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner.

Per:
Your car is a special one in many ways. BengalBrad has one as well and he had to figure out much more than a low idle. Look for his threads and study them.

Make sure you have no vacuum leaks. This car has variable intake runners that are operated with vacuum motors. If they don't function right you may get some funny symptoms. If they function right you get smiles from ear to ear.

Take your time cleaning the TB, there may be an idle air control valve and or an idle speed control motor. Clean and check them. Clean the MAF sensor. Check the fuel pressure. Check the fuel pressure regulator.

Clean all electrical contacts including ground (earth) connections.

Get a new fuel filter, air filter and stuff like that.

Since this is an old car proceed slowly and deliberately and cross your fingers that you accidentally fix the problem without braking anything.

I promise you one thing: you will learn a lot about cars.

What they said plus add 1 bottle of Techron to the gas. That alone will raise the idle. Although that particular cars idle is controlled by the ECU. The screw you turned to raise the idle is for base idle adjustment. The ECU will bump the idle up via the bypass air control valve. It has a cold start idle valve which is obviously working.
