Default EGR Code?

I'm Baaaaaaaack!

car runs pretty good, except I'm getting somewhat of an exhaust smell at first start up and I'm getting horrible gas miliage. I did the paperclip test and it's throwing a code 16 (EGR Valve), now the EGR for a 94 Mazda MX-3 is under the throttle body, correct? All hoses look like there are where they belong. I get a CEL after driving it about 15 miles.

Ok, can't think of any more clues to give you.

ok, can someone tell me exactly where my EGR Valve is on my 1994 Mazda MX-3 GS.

I have looked online, in message boards and in Chiltons. Chiltons shows it, but they have nothing I recognize near it. So basically, I know what it looks like. I have read it's under the air filter box, under the throttle body, etc. I went to Advanced Auto Parts and they couldn't find it either. Someone PLEASE let me know where it is.

Thanks

Bengalbrad, I cannot tell you where exactly the EGR valve is located.

Your engine is closely related to the 6 cylinder engines in Ford Probe and Mazda MX6. I hope close enough so that this might help:

Thanks as always Tan! This little bugger is really hard to locate, and like I said, one of the guys at Advanced Auto Parts couldn't find it at all

The Probe and the MX-6 describtion looks interesting and are saying it is in an area that I have looked at yet.

I'm thinking this might be a problem others had or may have. I'm going to take a picture when I find it so other will be able to access that information. Of course, knowing how this little bugger is, when I find it and then to inside to get my camera it will probably change locations because it's shy.

Right. It's elusive, that's why it will take 10 of the Advance Auto guys to surround it.
