Default Leaking engine oil in cylinders

I recently purchased a MX3 1997 1.8 v6, As i was driving down a motorway and i lost all power and had to pullover and eventually get towed away. I Then discovered that the aprk plugs in cylinders 1 and 4 were covered in engine oil. The engine starts but has no power and has a horrible knocking sound. Has anyone else had this or does anyone have any advice?

Time for a new engine or a new car.
You couldn't have paid much for a 1997!

Is it possible that it could be repaired?

Just too many items to look at: engine, heads, pistons, connecting rods, rad, catalytic converters (they more than likely will be clogged).

Unless your tranny, body are in excellent shape, scrap it.

Is the oil on the ceramic part of the plug or the electrode? It could be the rocker cover gasket leaking, allowing oil around the plug and the HT lead arcing out thru the oil. This will make the car run light sh*t and have no power, also it sounds bad too.

I would look down the spark-plug holes/tubes & look for oil. remove all the plugs, clean them all, clean the holes/tubes if oily, clean the HT leads & boots, refit everything. Check the oil level, start it up, go for a drive & see how it goes.

I've removed the spark plugs and there is oil on the ceramic part and in the cylinder of 2 cylinders. The other cylinders seem to be fine apart from a bit of a carbon deposit.

Do as I said and let us know how it goes. Also if it goes well you will need to replace your rocker cover gaskets to prevent on-going oil issues.
