hey whats up im new to this mazda forums and i own an mx6.i have 156800 miles on it which is alot but the motor is mint i have exaust hedders intake and chip the car is verfast but i need more power i was wondering what i should do. i was thinking of rebuilding the motor and turboing it i just want to know if this is a hard thing to do and how much ballpark figure will be someone hit me back please thanks
Turboing a car takes alot of work, you would need to built a custom manifold, get a bunch of hoses, piping, buy the turbo, BOV etc. I dunno all the specifics, i just know that you really need to know what you are doing if you want to turbo the car. The engine needs to be in good shape (compression ratios), you would most likely need to purchase a fuel pump(walbro 255), probably put millenia injectors etc
Brand new turbo kits vary from $1500 - $2000, custom building your parts and maybe rebuilding a turbo would be alot cheaper, but still pricey if you want it done right. If you don't know what you are doing, or don't know the engine well, then taking it to a mechanic would be the best choice but that may cost a pretty penny.
i would suggest searching more on www.mx6.com for info about it. There are TONS of articles and threads to search about improving your hp and torque, also has info about the KLZE if you are interested in that. Hope this helps
