MPV 2001 check engine light
Help! My check engine light is on and Autozone gave me the following codes P0171,P0174,P0481. We know that the first two could have something to do with the gas we use. The third one has something to do with the cooling fan 2 control circuit. Do you know what we need to do? Is this something I can fix myself and not have to pay a mechanic? Is this a part that has to come straight from the dealer or is there an after market part that can be purchased?

The P0481 is a phantom code that should not exist for your PCM to set on a 2001 MPV. There is a TSB from Mazda ( link below ). Dealer can reprogram the PCM so it will not set again but if this is the first tiime it has set then clear the code and will probably not reset again for a long time as it takes a very unique set of circumstances for it to be set anyway.
The other two codes are telling you that the adaptive fuel control has reached a maximum enrichment level due to engine running to lean. Could perhaps be the fuel you are using but a vacuum leak would be more probable. Check carefully for vaccum leaks paying particular attention to the intake manifold gaskets as they have been a bit of a problem. Updated gaskets have been available for some time.
