2005 mpv coolant system

2005 mpv coolant system
So....
Driving down the road. Temp gauge went through the roof. Turned on the heat, and for a few minutes cold air came through, then it got warm, then SUPER hot.
Then the temp gauge bottomed out.
Vent Temps went up and down and up again.
Temp gauge started working again.
Coolant smoke is coming out from under the hood.
Turned the car off, I have the high pitched whistle of a pressurized leak.
2005 with over 200,000 miles.
If it's the whole cooling system, it might be time to send this car to heaven.
Anybody got good news for me?

Coolant tank is going empty so fast!!! What the connection between coolant tank and the water pump??
