Default Transmission Lockup Problems

Hi all!

New to this nice forum, though I have been lurking here for a while.

I have recently bought a 2002 Xedos 9 2.5 (Millenia) with 125.000 miles (200.000 kms), full service and owner history.

First and previous owner is now 82 years old, so it has been driven carefully.

Anyway I have a problem with the transmission going into Lockup mode(TCC) at too low speed and RPM, it happens at 35 MPH and 1.500 RPM, the Engine then drops to 1.200 RPM, the TCC unlocks again, this happens over and over again, resulting in a jerky ride at this speed.

Itīs a pity as the rest of the car is absolutely flawless, transmission oil is in good order according to several workshops, no fault codes, no slippage.

Any ideas appreciated as both me, the Mazda importer and the workshops has run out of ideas.

Most likely the turbine sensor is giving a false reading. They rarely set a code. It will have to be monitored in data stream to tell.

Thanks for the suggestion hixx!

That was very good news and my first suspect as well.

I actually have a new turbine speed sensor as I was planning to replace the sensors one by one, but itīs not installed yet.

I tried to install it myself, but itīs placed under an Engine mount so couldnīt get it out.

Iīll call the workshop on monday to have it replaced.

Iīll give feedback on the outcome here.

Turbine speed sensor has now been replaced, but sadly no change in behaviour.

Was it like that from the factory?

Am I chasing ghosts here?

If Hixx or someone else know the correct shift Points for fourth gear and TCC lockup at low load, that could give some more clues.

Still confused that the PCU will let the Engine try to propel the car att 1250 rpm, which obviously does not work on the 2.5 Engine.
