01 millenia misfire after overheat
My car (01 millenia 2.5L) overheated the other day to the point it shut down. I towed it home and let it sit overnight. I replaced the radiator cap, added fluid, checked to see if fans worked (they do) and let it idle the next day for ten minutes and seemed fine. I drove it a mile down the road to my mechanic to have the check engine light looked at. On the drive it seemed to misfire and began heating up again. The mechanic put the computer on it and got a misfire cylinder 4 code and also told me to replace the thermostat. I replaced the tstat and disconnected the battery cable to clear the codes. That solved the overheating problem. I drove it around for a few days before any service engine soon lights came on but it still was misfiring. The car seems ok except for the occasional misfire you feel at idle and only feel at idle. Theres no white smoke out of the tailpipe, the car does not struggle to start after sitting so it does not appear to be a head gasket or anything. Does anyone have any clues as to what would cause a misfire after an overheat???? The car did not do this before the misfire.

To me, u had 2 problems right from the start ..seems the o/h has been solved. Now u need to scan the engine again to see if any code pop off .. thats what I can responsible advice to u ..
But if I were u, I did check that 4 cyl for distributor lead shortage to ground .. easier to detect during night ... thats all that comes to mind given the data available.... lets the games begin !!!! ..
