Unhappy 2018 ND - Passenger well flooded - twice. Help!

My beloved 2018 ND Pearl has flooded twice now. Both times, just in the passenger well. It
I *thought* I knew how to clear the well area of debris, since I was shown how you can reach in and clear stuff. The first time proved that wrong, so I watched some videos. Popped the panels, took out the basket and the filter, cleaned them both - yuck! I have no garage - and snapped them into place. I took note of how the filter was oriented, and double checked it on the driver side when I cleaned that out. (Mirrorred, of course.) Vacuumed up water, snapped the trim back in place, and felt good. I've got this thing handled.

Until the hurricane went over head, and I came out in the morning to flood no. 2. Arggh. Baskets clear, filter clean. Now, I haven't checked the drain pipe for after the basket, and I'm doing that this weekend, so that's a possibility. Possibility #2 is that I didn't snap the basket in place, and water went all around it. Regardless, I started the vacuuming process, and also blew some air through the carpet to try to air it out. I've got my top down here at work now to let the sun hopefully dry it out, since the top-up cabin heating method didn't work fully. Questions:
  • Is there an egress point somewhere in the floor wells? After using the shopvac, I noticed some water underneath the forward portion of the floor well. Is it possible there's a place that it would push uphill into?
  • Are there ANY plugs to open this up underneath to let it drain?
  • Am I missing anything for an ND in cleaning/clearing? I know the NA/NB had some sort of thing near the engine or doors that had to be cleared, but I can't find anything special for a ND that wouldn't apply to any other Mazda.
  • Recommendations for car covers that are lightweight and waterproof? Oh my goodness, this best-the-autoparts-place-had model is HUGE and won't fit back into its bag. It is waterproof enough and will do for now. I'm leaning to going to cover it normally now, though, and I need more trunkspace/ water proofing quality. The storms, they are not getting smaller.
  • Am I missing something else? Roof appears good, seals appear good.
Thanks for ANY help.

After driving the car for a while with the A/C running, check for a steady drip of water from the drain underneath.

Also, give the vehicle a good hose down and check for any water ingestion afterwards.

We had a brief shower over the weekend- so brief and unexpected that I didn't have time to get the cover on! I had a small amount of water, so it's definitely coming from the back area. Either drain or filter, or something entirely other that I am missing, but from the back. I could feel moisture on the back wall, and it cupped a bit in some little plastic piece on the wall.

But. I'm going to run AC on the way home and will check that as well.
