Default 1990 Miata problem

We have the B6 engine in this one and lately, the needle on the oil pressure gauge has went up to where one would see the quarter tank mark on the gas gauge and doesn't go down to zero like it used to. When I shift, it is normal but when you let it roll to a stop without engaging the clutch, it makes this terrible winding sound. A friend mentioned something along the lines of a "slave cylinder". Anyway, ALL answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Jonathan
