Window Problem
Passenger side front window is stuck in the down position. When I try to roll it up, it makes a noise like it's trying to roll up, but seems like it's stuck on something. All the posts I've found suggest it's the motor, but since I can hear the motor working it doesn't seem like that's the problem. I'd like to fix this myself, but I'm not certain the motor is the issue. I was thinking if the motor was the issue, then I wouldn't be able to hear it trying to roll up. Thoughts?
The motor is attached to a housing with plastic gears. The teeth on the gears break and will not engage the regulator to roll up the window. You have to buy a motor, they as one piece. Take the door panel off and remove to motor to see what it looks like. I just replaced mine earlier this week.
Older CX-9s are notorious for window motor issues, if its making a grinding/shuddering noise, then its a 99% chance the clutch drive in the motor has failed & requires replacing. Very common issue with them.
