Where is the Transmission Control Module located and is it part of the transmission?

Hi, I need to find the Transmission Control Module on my 2007 Mazda CX9. I had a Transmission rebuild done and the mechanic believe the module went bad. I'm also wondering if it's part of a Transmission rebuild or Electrical? Apparently, he found the problem AFTER the rebuilt and not before he started.

Its mounted on top of the transmission, under the shift cable. The replacement TCM will need to be programmed to your specific vehicle.

Thanks for that information. Do you get to it from the hood? Is it under/sort of under the battery?

Yes, from the top, probably will need to remove battery, battery tray & air filter housing.
