Rubber tip on door handle fell off
Hello members,
I hope someone can help me with this...
I own a 2012 CX9 Grand Touring.
The rubber tip on the door handle that is used to lock and unlock the car fell off and is nowhere to be found.
The dealer wants around $400 to "fix" it, saying that the rubber piece does not come on it's on and the whole handle needs to be replaced which requires 2 Hours of Labor + the cost of the new door handle!
This seams very excesive to me.
Did anyone else had this problem and is there any other solution?
Your wisdom is much appreciated.

Can you show me a picture?
I have the same vehicle, I am not sure what rubber piece you are talking about. I would like to help if I could but could you upload a picture of the passenger side showing the rubber piece and the driver side showing the same piece missing?
thank you

Maybe try searching ebay USA for the same part description.

This happened to my CX-9. Fortunately I still had/found the small plastic piece that goes inside. But if you have lost yours you can find a small (roughly 1.5x2x3mm) piece of plastic, place that in and make sure you can push in and trigger the door lock. It should just barely stick out of the hole (so it is just a little proud of being flush). Then use a black mouldable glue like this "Sugru Moaldable Glue" to form a small cap/button. Mine has lasted about 3 months so far and is doing well. It looks like OEM unless you look really closely (though I spent some time getting it to look right).
