Default Roof Rack

Hi all,
I have a 2010 CX nine with no roof racks/rails. What is my best option for some kind of roof top carrier? I mostly want some kind of carrier that just increases storage volume and is reasonably aerodynamic and waterproof, it doesn’t need to be specific to skis or anything like that. Do I need to bite the bullet and buy and have someone install Mazda OEM roof rails? And then my choices may be wide open for various carriers?
thanks in advance for any help.

You can buy non branded roof racks on ebay or similar sites. This will allow the fitment of a storage basket or pod.

The Mazda roof rails + cross bars costs $525 (msrp) to $410 (mail order). I do not know if professional installation is needed for the rails, or if they are DIY. For about the same cost you can get Thule or Yakima cross bars and feet that certainly are DIY. The Thule or Yakima bars carry more (they're wider) and have a higher weight rating.
