Default Remote Key Functions Intermittently

My remote will occasionally not work. I've had to remove the physical key for use. Other times, I've had the key in my pocket and the red key light will come on. And another time the key was right over the radio.

Any idea why this would be happening?

Thanks a million ahead of time,

Mike

How old is the battery in your remote? Get it tested. New is 3v, anything below 2.7v is too low.

I have noticed that Mazda remote batteries seem to need replacing every 2 years. We do about 5 a day. No labor charge. The battery is about 5 dollars.

Replaced the battery 2 months ago. It's a good one from a truck stop. I was afraid it might go bad on a trip I was on.

Good questions and I should have included that piece of info.

Thanks a lot! I am certainly open to more suggestions.

I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow. I took it in today and (Yay!) it failed for him, too.
