Default New CX 9 - red key warning light

only 1100 miles and I am going to the dealer for the second time tomorrow. The red key warning light comes on intermittently, blinks for a few minutes, then goes out. The first time it happened, the dealer replaced the battery, even though the manual says the light will blink green if battery gets low.
Of course, I can not get to the dealer fast enough before the light goes out. This has happened at least 5 times already. Everything else is working fine. Any ideas what could be wrong? I hate to think this could be an omen of trouble to come.
I am coming from a Toyota Sienna that I drove for 85000 and besides oil and brakes never saw the inside of the service department. Drove a Honda Accord for 18 months, but wanted to get up high again. Sure miss my 29.8 average mpg.

Do you have a convential key or the newer Keyless Fob & push button start?

If its the Key fob, where are you keeping the fob while driving? It may be out of range & warning you of the fact.

I have a 2015 touring model. It has the keyless fob. I turn a plastic "key" that stays in the ignition to start the car. I read in the manual not to keep the fob in the cup holder, so I am keeping on the dashboard on the little shelf of the instrument panel.
