Fan blower turns on when car turns off (?)
#41
I have been having this issue for about a month now. Yesterday was the first time that it would not turn off after I put turned the car back on and off again. Any ideas as to what the issue is? I have 90,000 miles so it is not under warranty.

Inexpensive fix.
There are many posts explaining the inexpensive fix. Here is one....
I have a 2008 Mazda CX9, 68K+ miles. Bought it brand new (1st ever). Love it. Just started having this "blower" problem 2 months ago. Tried all types of combinations but the front fan blower would just turn on whenever I turned off the car. Clocked it - 30 seconds. Then it would turn off. Just like that, each and every time. I read about the Mazda Tech Service Bulletin (TSB) 07-008/09.
Thanks to this forum, and one other, I bought the relays that the TSB said to replace (part# G115-67-730) and replaced both front and back relays(under hood relay box closest to the driver's side fender) and up to right now no more occurences. The bad relay is black and new relays are light blue. Purchased online from OEMMAZDAPARTS.com, in stock for $13.29 each, plus shipping.
Try to avoid my mistake of replacing the two black relays in the under hood relay box just above the radiator fan. Don't know what they do, but this didn't work which caused me to re-read some posts, but those relays back in, and I finally found the correct box, located as mentioned before.

RE: blower motor keeps running
My daughter has a cx9 and her front blower motor kept running when she shut the car off. The problem is the relay under the hood. If you look under the hood you will see the fuses and relays on the drivers side. I replaced both the front and rear blower relays and it corrected the problem. They cost about $15 each.

rear door won't open
the door latch on the rear rear door of my 2008 cx9 will not open from the rear. You have to open it with the release in the drivers seat. I can see that the latch is frozen in the open position. How do I remove the latch try to free it up in order to work correctly?

Just to help everybody, it seems an old problem, but could help; from 2007 - 2010 CX9s; follow the instructions in this link: http://blog.yagelski.com/2011/10/maz...on-after.html; it worth and I found a relay for $11 bucks, dealer $15; I change the Front Blower Relay, could be any of those two relays (rear or front, could happen in any) within the Relay box on a side of the fuses, close to the Battery, engine compartment. Problem fixed right away and easy to perform the change. I hope this helps. My 2008 CX9 with 120k miles, work excellent. Take care.

Awesome!
Might be late to the party, but this just solved my issue which recently popped up with my ‘09 CX9. Glad to hear the family car is not dying a very odd death. Also surprised to even find a thread on this. Thanks to all

I
While I am not a Mazda tech I am a Volvo tech and we have this in our higher end cars.
Volvo refers to it as "afterblow" and it is to clear out condensation from the evaporator housing to prevent musty odors in the airbox. It is likely that the guys at the dealer may not know about it because it is a Volvo function that has found it's way into other Ford products and the CX-9 is heavily integrated into the latest generation of Ford family cars.
I'm not saying 100% that is what is going on but I'm willing to bet money on it.
BTW, my 2000 S80 (volvo) has that feature but it was only last summer that my wife noticed it. It only works when certain drive criteria have been met so it will not happen all the time.
Just my .02cents.

I agree with your idea ours is a 2008 Mazda CX-9 grand touring. we’ve owned it since 2010 and it has done it every day since we’ve owned it and we’ve never had any issues I assumed it was a feature that was supposed to happen being that To us at least it’s a higher in car. 🤷♀️. We have had very minimal problems with this car thankfully.
