Default correct part number

I just had this blower issue start happening on a used 2008 CX9 I just bought a week ago. Read about it in the mazda forums and edmunds forums before I even bought the thing. I just called two dealerships and explained the issue and they gave me this part number for the relays, "L1Y167730". There's one for the front and one for the rear blower. I ordered two for $5 each.

We went thru this a few years ago on our 2007, dealer found it to be a bad relay which was replaced under warranty. Trouble is, fast forward a few years later to today and we have the problem cropping up again. Not sure how large a deal this relay is to find and replace on your own or what the cost is.

Oops, now I see sudosonics reply, sounds like that's the ticket!

Default Fan Blower

My 2007 does the same thing. Fan turns on inconsistently when turning off car, lasting up to several minutes.
I also have a problem with my key stuck in the ignition. It will not move to the lock position. I can get out of Park and drive the car but now the car battery won't shut down.
I was very interested to find both of these problems on this site.

HI, I work at a Mazda dealer as the parts manager. This is a fun site, its cool of the creators of this site and the mods to keep it running. I've been reading through the forums for a while now, but this is my 2nd ? post. I mainly just look at the pics of all your cars..Anyway, ajcx9 and sudosonic are both right on the part number. The TSB changed from the G115-67-330 to the L1Y1-67-330. Either one will work fine, no one told me why the change but its not uncommon. Most of the time it's because they chose a different manufacturer to make the same relay.. If anyone has any questions about their Mazda, PM me and I will get it as fast as I can.

That's cool. We can always use another knowledgeable person here. I know I certainly don't have all the answers. Thanks for the offer, Ed.
As you must know we are a small forum compared to some, but we keep chugging away at it and trying to get others interested.

I was a mechanic (before they were known as technicians) and later a Parts Manager myself back throughout the '80's. I worked for a Volvo/BMW shop, then Jeep/Renault, Honda and then a "fix-all" independent before getting out. 'Course that was 20-30 yrs ago and things are much different now.

Default Same Problem with Cabin fan

Hello, I have a 2008 CX-9 which is doing the exact same thing. The rear fan blower will sometimes (not everytime) come on when we shut the car off. I have not been to the dealer yet but was afraid they would be clueless to the problem and of course it is doubtful the car will actually exhibit the behaviour when they are looking at it. If I find anything out though I will post.

Default no relay will beat me

I have a 2008 Mazda CX9, 68K+ miles. Bought it brand new (1st ever). Love it. Just started having this "blower" problem 2 months ago. Tried all types of combinations but the front fan blower would just turn on whenever I turned off the car. Clocked it - 30 seconds. Then it would turn off. Just like that, each and every time. I read about the Mazda Tech Service Bulletin (TSB) 07-008/09.

Thanks to this forum, and one other, I bought the relays that the TSB said to replace (part# G115-67-730) and replaced both front and back relays(under hood relay box closest to the driver's side fender) and up to right now no more occurences. The bad relay is black and new relays are light blue. Purchased online from OEMMAZDAPARTS.com, in stock for $13.29 each, plus shipping.

Try to avoid my mistake of replacing the two black relays in the under hood relay box just above the radiator fan. Don't know what they do, but this didn't work which caused me to re-read some posts, but those relays back in, and I finally found the correct box, located as mentioned before.

Default "Fan blower turns on when car turns off (?)" update

Thanks for the new post. I dropped $30 for each relay at the local dealer.

I'd be talkin' to that stealer if I were you. Are/were they even aware there is a TSB on these relays and that many CX-9's seem to have the issue??
