I have a 2013 CX9 with factory remote start installed and it has a weird issue. If I press the remote start it will flash the lights several times (cycling) then stops without starting. If I have the window open, and push the button and place the key fob inside the car through the window it will start.

Seems like some kind of passive security issue but can't find any codes. Ideas?

 

There won’t be any DTC for that remote starter. It was never intended as part of the ECU programing. This issue is going to be old fashion troubleshooting.

The first thing is to get your battery load test no matter what you “think” the age or condition of it is. Then carefully look at all 4 battery contact and terminal connections.

After you have verified the battery condition as passing a load test and good connections. Then change the battery in your fab. .

Then once you do this you can go to the next step unless the resolve was simply a battery in a state of failure.
