I have a 2009 CX9 with about 110,000 miles. Engine light came on and I took it to my mechanic. He said when he ran the scan code p0016 came up which basically means change engine. He advised me to take it to the dealer because he said it seems to be an ongoing problem w these cars. I took it to the dealer and they had a completely different code with work to be done for about $1,000. I spoke to the mechanic and I said I was told it was code 0016, he said thats not showing up at all. He calls me the next morning and sure enough the code came up on the 2nd scan. They want $3,500 to fix this. Car is barely worth that! My question is, this seems to be a known issue w these cars. Anyone else had similar happen? I called Mazda to see if they can help and they said nothing has been reported. Any suggestions on what I can do?
