Default Dummy Connector for Kick to Open Liftgate

Howdy Folks. New Member here. This maybe a long shot but I thought maybe someone has the answer.

I bot a 2020 CX9 GT used. It has the kick to open liftgate. However, the previous owner had the OEM Mazda tow hitch installed at the dealer. After I took the vehicle home I came to find out that this kick to open liftgate would not work. Upon further research it was stated that if you have the OEM tow hitch installed then that feature would be disabled. I called the dealer I bought it from and the service advisor told me they are required to disable it once they install the tow hitch. Honestly I have no use for this tow hitch but since a piece of the bumper was cut during the installation I just have to leave it on. The advisor told me a dummy connector was installed with PN: 0000-8E-N14. I asked if he knew where this thing was so that I could disconnect or undo it so that I get the feature back. He said he did not know. I looked online and for the life of me could not find anything on where this dummy connector maybe so that I can remove it and get that feature back. Was hoping someone may know. I know it may be a long shot.

Thanks.

The "kick to open" sensor is removed prior to fitting the towbar and thrown in the bin.

Thanks for the reply. Bin meaning trash? If so can I buy a new sensor and put back on with the tow hitch still in place?

Yes rubbish bin / trash can.

The mounting position is taken over by the towbar.

I honestly don't know if you could cable tie it in place and have it work properly. Also its operation is disabled in the infotainment system.

I have a 2020 CX9 in Canada and with the trailer hitch installed The rear hatch works erratically when operated. Going into vehicle settings you can disable this feature. Keep in mind if the dealer does a version update to the vehicle is also resets this setting to factory default and has to be disabled in settings. Unfortunately I have not found a way around it.

I also bought a 2020 CX-9 GT. It has a trailer hitch installed and the kick to open liftgate does work. Not sure if it is an OEM trailer hitch or not.
