Default Door lock assembly / actuator

Hello all. My drivers power door lock stopped working so I was attempting to replace the actuator and discovered that it's all one assembly (naturally). Could someone explain how to disconnect the rods from the door handle and key from the lock assembly so that I can remove it? Oddly enough, as I reassembled things so I could use the car as normal until I got the part...it magically started working again! For how long who knows, so I'd still like to know how to do this.

I have pictures of this to better show what I mean but I can't figure out how to upload them. Noob, I know

Thanks
