Hi All. First post. So hello.

I have a 2008 Mazda CX9.

The AWD system is non functional. I think it died the day I towed a boat on a slippery uphill road. The front wheels spun and as the rears kicked in there was a bang and that was that.

I am going to order a new transfer case but I am not sure if the transmission splines are stripped as well. In which case I will also order the differential carrier or a refurbished transmission.

Is there any way to see if the splines are stripped? I obviously dont want to order the entire transmission unless 100% necessary.

You can't tell until you remove the transfercase.
