When I go over small bumps I get an annoying rattling noise from the back, it seems to be coming from the corner of the trunk door. When I press on it, it sounds like there is slight movement and it makes a bit of noise, where as the other side doesn’t. It seems like maybe it’s not as tightly shut as it should be when it’s closed.
The latch on the liftgate sill is surrounded by a plastic square. Pop that off. It looks like the loop part of the latch is attached by two bolts, and I'll bet it can be adjusted if the bolts are loosened. First make some witness marks...small scratches on both the latch and the sill or some other way to know where you're starting and where it moves. Tighten it a millimeter or so and try the liftgate for rattles.
Thanks, I tried this, even to the max adjustment and I can tell the boot closes very tight, but this didn't fix the noise at all. Really baffled as to what it could be
