Thank you. I did not buy a mazda wiring kit and opted for after-market. I'd like to set it up so i don't have to deal with the wiring every time i use the trailer. I bought a 1/2" black wiring conduit to help protect the wiring and to give it uniform black look. I know that no one will ever see the wiring

Do people opt for the premium fuel when they tow? I'm not sure that i need the extra HP or torque. I'm only towing the trailer and my riding mower. Just curious if people changed fuel when they towed.

The extra power from premium gas takes place only at high rpm. It is unlikely you'll notice any difference in your towing.
I keep the wiring in the tool compartment in the back of the car. When I tow I pull out the connector on the flat 4-conductor cable to the length I need to connect and close the hatch on it. There's no damage to the cable. When finished I put the cable back into the compartment. Invisible.

Default Hitch behind bumper?

OK going to ask what may be a dumb question here - but is it feasible to get a hitch that's more integrated into the bumper, e.g. like this:

https://www.mazdaswag.com/oem-parts/...AwMDAtOEUtTjMx

It's a bit hard to tell but it looks like that hitch is a bit higher. However that said it looks like it may be an aftermarket shroud that's lower, and the hitch may be the same height as the others on this thread.

I'm looking at possibly getting a CX-9 (currently have a Mazda6), and towing is a factor. It'd be nice to have a hitch that's more integrated if possible (and if it's not weaker), though of course that's no show-stopper - just wondering.

(my main two things are bike rack and an 1,100-lb-capacity trailer, though occasionally I'll do things like u-haul or the like)

Thanks for any info.

The genuine Mazda hitch in the link is not as low as aftermarket hitches and requires you to cut the plastic trim at the bottom of the bumper.

Default CX-9 hitch

My hitch is from etrailer.com and it's better than OEM. Looks built-in. They also have the exact wire harness for the CX-9. Check out.

Can you say what hitch you got, and maybe post a picture? When I look at the recommended hitch on etrailer it doesn't look built-in as you describe.

Did you get a different hitch than that?

Thanks.
