Looking to buy the CX5 Grand Touring AWD with tech package. At this time the dealers have 2016s on the lot and 2016.5 models on order.

What's the difference at the top end. I am only interested in the Gran d touring model. Can anyone tell me what is different between the 16 and the 16.5 at this trim level?

Why can't the dealer tell you? I've never heard of a 2016.5!!

 

Not aware of Mazda ever having a .5 year model.

2016 US model is the same as a face-lift 2015 model in NZ & OZ.

Cars are being built all the time. Over here they have a build date tag on the "B" pillar.

 

What's your source for 2016.5 models? In the USA, manufacturers don't release .5 models anymore. Back in the 80s/early 90s was the last time I can recall. If Mazda makes a change, it will be with the 2017 model.

My message to Mazda, please allow us current owners to add Apple Carplay!

Tccox, thanks for the update. So, I could have saved a few hundred $ on my GT if I purchased now. I don't even care/need NAV. I use my phone for it - since it gives me realtime traffic.

 

Bought my GT this weekend. Asked the dealer about the .5 year, and he had no idea what I was talking about...

 

I remember my dealership saleman mentioning (back in dec '15) about the 16.5 refresh specifically for the touring version. I believe some of the exclusive package options on GT would be made available on the lower trims.

 

I did not ask the dealer because in my experience the folks on forums like this usually know more than the salespersons at a dealer.

 

Thanks - looks like it did not change anything on the Grand Touring package. So we bought one over the weekend. Our configuration is a black grand touring model with the tech package. So far very cool car.
