2015 CX-9 Engine question
Mechanic replaced both engine and transmission. The engine starts but car won't move. The mechanic is saying I need AWD engine but the place where I bought engine from is saying there is no such thing as AWD or FWD engine and there is no issue with the engine. I checked on ebay and I dont see sellers listing the engines as AWD or FWD. At this point I am kind of lost and don't know what to do. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Your "mechanic" is not giving you all the need information.
I often suggest that people search out a person that is more currently trained and certified when it has to do with newer vehicles. The average mechanic's don't cut it anymore.
Off the top of my head something was neglected or not done for this swap. There are numerous sensors as well a diagnostic check prior to starting the engine and then directly after.
Specifically, what the ECU (possibly TCM if applicable) is reporting and other information in the ECU about why there is a no start.
The basic engines are the same and although I would not say absolutely, and I did not research but have NEVER run into this question or a problem working on both including engine replacements based on the wrong engine because of AWD vs FWD of the same engine size and relatively close year productions.
