Strange...but happy
So lately I have been replacing PCV Valve and then Turbo on my cx7 2.3.
After finishing the job, I checked everything, hooked up my battery, checked if the engine would start up. I knew the battery would be low, so gave it a go any way. It cranked, but didn't start, so I thought okay, battery needs a charge, I did this and after a few hours hooked it back up. I turned the ignition and ......Nothing, wouldn't crank, so I thought okay I will try jumping from my missus' car. same thing, full dash but no crank, I turned the key and could hear a relay, so checked fuses, connectors.
I knew I had everything hooked back up again correctly, so I sat in the drivers seat and I wondered to my self.....What if this works, I depressed the brake pedal and it fired up immediately. I was happy to hear it start after all the work, but was amazed that I had to depress the brake pedal.....Is this normal. It is Not an automatic, It is a 2007, DISI MZR Turbo 2.3.
Why would this have happened. I have seen this on other cars, but did not think this was a function on this car.

Car is up and running, Turbo good, oil and oil filter changed. Coolant changed. Car sounding nice, runs and performs great.
Wish there had been some replies from folks here. It really would have helped.
I did struggle, but did manage to get the job done.
I'm not perfect at putting things forward on here, my way of asking or describing and possibly the right section, needs work. But this was not a small job I undertook.
I also did the PCV Valve before the turbo. I have to say I learned a great deal about this car.
I was working on my front drive, tackling the job on and off, whilst working a 48 hour week, 12 hour shifts in my local Care home.
Getting degreased before next shift was fun.
Any ways I still have a battery issue to sort, I think It may be a drain. But while I was doing the car I did find an armoured section of wiring that must have got damaged when I sent it back after 2 weeks as the clutch had gone. They must have damaged it then, so that is repaired and we will see if the car still drains.
Thanks for having me on here, again wish there were more replies. This is a great place for advice

When you say "did the PCV valve" do you mean you traded out an old one and installed a new one?
My car ('08 CX-7) has 146,000 miles and I'm pretty sure I'm going to change the PCV valve. The car has an oil leak and I have a catch can on it. I don't know for sure there's a problem with it but I know they can get dirty so I'm just going to change it. During that process I'm looking at cleaning the intake and EGR and doing other related maintenance items.

I've heard you have to remove the intake manifold, is that what you did?
How dirty was it?
Do you have a catch can on yours?
Mine has had the catch can since maybe 30,000 miles and I haven't had any issues but at some point I'm going to take it apart and clean it so I'm wondering what it will look like.

Hi there, yes this is what I had to do, I also had to move out of the way, the power steering pump, I am in uk, so uk variant, I was told I would have to remove it totally to get to the last intake bolt, but I managed to just undo the power steering bolts and move it to the side, prop it with a block of wood, that way, the belt was still in place and after just moved it back without having to reinstall the belt.
How many miles on yours?
I live in LA, I guess the main difference in UK variant is having steering wheel on right so the engine is moved around some?
I am also considering replacing the accessory belt while I'm doing all these things on the car. It's never been changed. My car hasn't really needed anything except regular maintenance, oil changes and brakes and flushing coolant. So there's a lot I can/should/need to do on it, even though it is running just fine.
Also, I lived in England for a couple years when I was younger, what part of UK are you in? I lived in the northeast, Yorkshire, Sunderland, Wakefield, a few other areas.
