Default cx7 intermitent power steering fail

Hi I have a 2010 2.2diesel and the steering lost all power, ie no power steering. I spoke to mazda parts after being informed by the breakdown company it was a clock spring/sensor.
I bought one at £95 got a mechanic to fit it , all was well for a short drive, but after turning the engine off the stiffness returned with 2 warning lights ie engine management and a steering wheel light.
I waited 10 mins turned it back on and the power steering worked. I gladly got it home , and being given several offers of advice from recalibration to other sensors, I would appreciate any advice.

When it was originally replaced, was the replacement OEM? Factory power steering pumps are starting to fail and from the few I’ve replaced with aftermarket parts usually come back with a whine or leak of some sort. I would also hope that when the shop does the work, they inspect fluid condition first when draining. Had a customer Saturday come in for a steering rack replacement opinion. Previous pump failed, sent metal shavings through the system. Quoted her out new lines, new pump and rack because metal went everywhere.
