Default CX-7 5 second beep when braking

Hopefully someone will have experienced this one before, as it is currently stumping me.

2011 CX-7 2.2D Manual. Whenever the brake pedal is touched, it triggers a 5 second beep from a buzzer in the footwell. The beep is always 5 seconds long then stops until the brake is touched again.

The repetitive nature of the tone and the fact it is exactly the same time each time leads me to think it isn't a short in the brake switch wiring. There are absolutely no warning lights or errors when scanned via the OBD 2 port.

The brakes are in great condition. Plenty of life on the discs and the pads, brake fluid isn't even 6 months old and the level is on the MAX. The brakes themselves make no strange noises, they don't pull and they work really well.

I'm getting close to just finding the buzzer in the footwell and cutting the wiring to shut it up. As I can see absolutely no logical reason why it's doing it. The CX-7 owners manual also doesn't list any beep noises that are not accompanied by a warning light of some kind. Any ideas ??

Do you have front or rear parking sensors?
