Default Wi fi hotspot

Are there only certain trim levels that can make the CX 5 into a mobile hotspot ? Thanks.

If you go into the infotainment settings you can view the mobile hotspot settings. What year CX-5 do you have?

Its a 2024 and I have looked all through there but nothing there! The manual really is not clear on what features are on what trim level . Nothing comes up in the index under wi fi or hotspot!

You need to connect your phone via Apple Play or Android Auto to your Mazda.
You then use the mobile hot-spot settings on your phone.

Thanks, I have tried that , but it does not show up as an available network / On Youtube videos I have seen, the Mazda Connect screen shows screens with Wifi options/ Mine does not and I thought I had looked everywhere. As a result , I'm think it just is not on our base GX model?

SETTING UP YOUR MAZDA’S WI-FI HOTSPOT

is licensed by Mazda USA

The first thing you’ll need to do is activate your Wi-Fi hotspot and your trial period. Mazda vehicles with a Wi-Fi hotspot come with a three-month or 2-gigabyte trial period, whichever comes first. To start using your trial, go to the Settings option on your infotainment screen. Next, select the Devices tab before choosing the Wi-Fi network option. You should now see a list of available networks that you can connect to. If you can see your Mazda’s network, all you’ll need to do is select it. This will connect your infotainment system to the internet.

If you can’t see your Wi-Fi network, keep in mind that your vehicle must either be running or in accessory mode for your hotspot to work. If this isn’t the source of your problem, you may need to activate it first. You can do this by selecting the Connectivity Settings icon on your infotainment system’s Settings page. Next, go to Wi-Fi Settings and make sure that the check box next to your Wi-Fi network is selected.

The Wi-Fi Settings page is also where you can check or change your password and find out your network’s name or service set identifier, otherwise known as the SSID. Once you’ve made sure the check box is selected, go back to the Devices tab and select your network to connect to it.

The wi-fi hotspot is provided through ATT. It has nothing to do with AA/CP. I have had mine since buying it in 2021. After the 3mth trial, it costs 200/yr for the service. Once activated, you see it on your phone under wifi networks and pair up. It will do this automatically after the first time, like any other wifi. Not sure if it's only available on certain trim levels.

I do not have any wifi showing up on our infotainment screens. Maybe it is because it is the base model or that we are in Canada, and I dont know if we have AT and T here!

I assume Mazda did a similar setup with a carrier in Canada.
