3carmonte I went and read many of your responses on this forum. Not impressed. Your age dude well hate to break it to you I am 63 and have been in the Automotive industry in many capacities and still am since I was 17. Wonder what you have been doing your life?
What you call arrogant I call a long history of education in my chosen career, and years, no decades of practical application and experience. https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/off...-living-44406/ https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/mem...allisto-72163/
I have read that you like to pick on some members , most simply back down or just go away and ignore you where you post. LOL3carmonte Join Date 10-11-2013 Total Posts 127 https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/mem...armonte-55906/ https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/mem...armonte-55906/I suggest in the future when you respond with horse sheeet on a thread and want to pick a fight with a member to learn to read first and then look into the member and what they contribute to the forum for content. Your contribution IMHO lacking so much its almost funny you decided to argue with me after I tried to to give you grace to shut up and move on. LOL
What I really found funny was what you call a "fact"...why because you said your one single incident makes it one. Well lets find out more "factual information like post your invoice when you bought your tires or at least lets see the odometer reading on the invoice. If they did "crack" was it all of them or one or two and if so did you get them warrantied and if your did post the invoice showing how they warrantied them? Was it a courtesy adjustment or a legitimate warranty? At least a couple of us in the business will be able to tell which it was by the invoice!
Other wise your fact are just really more what happened to you is because of causes unspecified your tires cracked. sure that would be a fact! But please dont claim it to be the Florida weather? LOL I have friends family and one of my business pardners that live in different parts of Florida and they have never had tires crack. LOL
I also and again with another recommendation in the future when you respond and want to pick a fight on a thread with a memeber(s) to learn to read first what they are posting (reading comprehension) and then look into the member stats i.e. what they contribute to the forum for content. Your contribution IMHO is lacking so much its almost funny you decided to argue with me after I tried to to give you grace to shut up and move on. LOL
schmieg I see you found humor in our forums friend 3carmonte last response. LOL
Just so you know(if you didn't already?) The molded numbers and letters, will give the information like date the tire was manufactured what country, what shift and time it was manufactured. To name the most common found information. It actually gives even more then that but some if next to impossible to know what the translated numbers are unless your are the manufacture or have someone willing to give you that information? This is a clue when people have trouble with multiple tires on one vehicle like cracking or tread separation. We can sometimes determine if there is a true warranty issue or simply and more commonly the end user failing to notice the start of a problem that was caused by factors other then a tire quality problem. Here again all to often when it is more then one tire its not the tires problem because reading all the numbers we can also see that different plants of the exact tire may have slightly different formulas. So have 2 or more tires say "cracking" the odds are it is the end user and not the tire. I would be surprised comparing the actual purchase date and the tire age that the tire is much older then your would have thought or expected. This is why I recomend that when you buy a tire ask the sales person to show you the age of the tire before you buy it. Its interesting that some bargain retailers of the same tire is seeming 25% or more then a larger chain retailer of tires. But this is s subject about retail outlets and pricing.
mazda_nc_dude Discount Tire has an excellent reputation, sells top brand tires and rotates old stock back to the vendors. They also train their customer service reps very well. The tire pricing is good and they stand by the product and service they offer. Here in California they ar called America's Tire. I use them for "ROAD FORCED BALANCING" on some of my tire/wheel combination for the street. discounttire.com
To all other members , moderators and our Administrator reading this thread I am realize that I am edgy at not exactly being polite to a member but at times when such bad information is posted someone needs to at least get people to consider that there are better answers. When it comes to safety equipment or parts on any vehicle I am more then cautious when I post to make sure that people get the very best information based on my level of Automotive Experience.
The tires to the left of the pictures are 2 complete sets of custom wheels and tires that are for various vehicles all brand new never used yet. I still every 4 months and check the tire pressures.
On my 2018 Mazda3 every 5000 or less I rotate the tires but during that rotation the tires and wheel are each meticulously cleaned before re-installation .
I currently have 4 cars that are not garage kept. 3 are in a vehicle storage lot and one our 09 MINI is in the driveway. My Mazda 3 and my 02 MINI are garage kept.
I have never in the last 30 years had any brand tire crack! The 09 MINI in my driveway is subject to year round weather conditions and sun hits the tires from sun up until sundown all year round for the last 4 years.Hmm??? IMHO they look pretty good. I keep them clean and all the other recommendation I posted earlier.
I need new tires, What are your best tires for the CX5 ?
What tires you currently have on your CX5?
Thank you
The original post .... basically asked for recommendations for a replacement tire. The thread has since digressed into .......
So.... for my 5 cents worth .... my new 2019 Signature has the 19 inch wheels with the OE TOYO A36 tires. These seem to be good tires based on the ride and traction, and there are reports to expect shorter than normally expected miles/kilometers from them... and this could be predictable based on the tread life designation given to them (UTQG 300AA). My tire guy has convinced me of the reliability and value in TOYO tires (others may have different experience) over a period of almost 15 years and I have purchased TOYOs for five different vehicles prior to this CX-5. While I do not require replacement tires at this time, if I was in the market, I would consider the TOYO Open Country Q-T to replace the originals. These have a UTQG 680AA so I would expect a greater tire life from them with respect to miles/kilometers. I will still install a set of dedicated winter snow tires in October each year for the 5 or 6 months snowy season we have here.
What have others purchased as replacement all-season tires?

I have the same OE A36's on my 2019 Signature also. My past experiences with Toyo tires (going back 20 years) is, mileage-wise, they will not last much more than 30-35K (at best). Personally, I like Continental, for the price, performance, and longevity, but after taking a long look at Tirerack, I may, when the time to replace, go with General Altimax RT43 (V-rated).
Tires and oil are two things that will create controversy in a car forum. Weighing in, I have a 2016.5 Grand Touring with 19" wheels. I run Pirelli P7 All Season Cinturatos and have been very pleased. In the winter I run Bridgestone Blizzaks, on a separate set of wheels they ride rougher, but handle snow and ice well. I purchase tires through Tire Rack and have them delivered to my local Firestone for installation. Firestone is strange, if you walk in with someone else's tires they won't install them, but as an authorized Tire Rack installer they will. Tire Rack makes recommendations on their site, if you go this route.
Ya add spark plugs ( I can cause a whirlwind on threads on that subject) to that list as well. Mostly because DIY users do not spend the time nor have the access to being able to try and compare "things" at the same time to give good reporting and then close to some tangible conclusive data.
How many people (not professionals in the automotive business) have been able to have a set of new tires installed drive a few days and then return them and try another new set to try out for comparison?
Look at the tire thing another way.... NASCAR regulation are all the same regarding the construction of a car, but when it comes to what a team can run for tires is their choice.... you see multiple brands used because each team thinks what they use is better then the other.
There just really is no good ,better, best when it comes to choosing a tire for a daily driver because there are to many variables to say what may work for you will work for others.
As for *Firestone.... I have never herd of nor is it in the decision of the store managers to set independent policies (corp. Firestone sets all store operation policies) to turn away the installation of new tires brought in by customers regardless of authorized installer of companies or just a walk in. Now if the tires are used they can use their judgement to install or decline installation service mostly because of what they may consider unsafe tires? * Firestone corp office contact # 1 (800) 367-3872

Our local Firestone may have backed down since I last had a conflict with them. They told me they would not install tires brought in, even new. We discovered my son's car had three bent wheels, he was overseas when I made the discovery. I took them off the car and Firestone unmounted them, I shipped the wheels off, when I came back they initially said they would not reinstall the tires, the guy hadn't even seen them. I demanded to talk to the manager, who was familiar with the situation and they put them back on. Actually it occurs to me I haven't seen that employee the last few times I've been in, they probably showed him the door.
You're in Texas. See much snow? If not, find a summer performance tire. A summer performance tire will also give better wet performance than an A/S. Not many to choose from, I'd suggest the Michelin Sport 4 SUV
