Thermometer Monitor Engine Coolant Temperature -40F
I have followed this thread and wondered why you were getting those readings? Maybe just use another device to at least compare to confirm?
Nope. Car runs great. I have chalked it up to something screwy with the scan tool I'm using. The sensors are new and they test perfectly with a multimeter according to the factory service manual so the fault must lie with the scantool and I still don't have and won't be buying another one anytime soon.
@2014CX5GTAWD25 Did you ever figure this out? Sounds like your car ran normally. I've got the same reading, but my car is stalling out after a few minutes of driving and it throws an error saying there's an inconsistent temp reading between sensors. I suspect that's the root cause, but wondering if this -40 thing around the thermostat is a red herring versus a real symptom.
BTW, your question about fuel pulse width, that's an error in the software. The range is specified in seconds, but it's showing a reading in milliseconds. So it's always out of range. Just ignore it.

Are both your sensors reading the same or close to the same?
Great question. Answer is no. After a couple of mins of idling, getting ~1V from the one on the engine block (#1), and ~3.5V from the one near the firewall(#2). #1 voltage keeps dropping as engine temp increases (as expected), #2 barely moves. I suspect #2 is bad. About to replace that and will see what happens.
Were your voltages consistent between the two?
The reason I asked about the thermostat is that if it's not allowing coolant to circulate properly to the heater core (and the #2 sensor along the way), it may be more than just a sensor.
***editing to add that I removed the #2 sensor and did the hot water test and saw it return some pretty normal-looking readings. Which is why I suspect I have a circulation issue.
