Do your motors for tailgate also get more noisy than usual, over time.

 

Not to say it won't happen, but I haven't noticed any difference in two years I've owned my CX-5.
Though be aware there were recalls done on some 2016 models because the lift gate struts were prone to rusting and breaking.
If you are hearing a louder noise checking the struts would probably be a good idea.
