A few reasons...
1. Newer technology - discounted price on newer models.
2. Depreciation - increases the gap between value and loan balance
3. old payment amount vs new payment amount almost identical ($47)
4. Annoying scratches and dings.
5. more reasons too but ... ok... wireless CarPlay is one of them ...
So is your car still being paid off?

OK... Update...

I went back to the dealer today...
It turns out there is what I call a 'trick' to getting it to work.

After toiling through the manual I found out that an original map SD has something to do with it. It appears that the SD card may have a reference even if the map is not being used. With the correct SD inserted, when the Front sensing camera (FSC) 'sees the sign, some trigger goes off but this only happens if it is a licensed or VIN-linked SD card.

Also, the SD card, when installed, needs some time before the menu options kick in. It may even require driving a couple miles to get it going...

more to come. They ordered a card for me so it show arrive shortly...

Not anymore... The new car deal took care of it. Essentially, the loan balance + the new car price both combined came to a few dollars (47) more than the old car payment with a mere additional nine months. So If I kept the old car, I'd pay it off in 39 months and for the new payment, I'll pay it off in 48.

It's really something that depends on your situation. If your current loan on the 2022 model (as far as I understand) has a low APR, I'd just stick with it to be honest.

1. There really isn't much "newer technology" just additional items, meaning more things that can go wrong/break, that are really not needed to drive the vehicle from point A to point B.
Prices are never discounted; they are artificially raised and lowered to suck in the consumer and right now tariffs are playing a big part.
2. If you are worried about depreciation, you'd never buy a new vehicle (unless you believe the Harley Davidson myth).
3. For the last couple decades, I've kept my vehicles on average for 5-6 years and then trade them in paying cash for the difference.
It's much easier to do than you think. Especially when you can bank and invest and get a return on "monthly payments" and aren't paying any interest.
4. Any scratches and dings I immediately take care off.
5. For the actually purpose of owning a vehicle CarPlay is not a requirement.

So it seems the "The cost of the new version however, is prohibitive" comment was resolved? Did you get a Signature version again? Same color combo? As others have said, with a 22 to 25 you really didn't gain anything other than resetting the warranty. You already had all the new tech and the final bumper/lights refresh with the 22 model. But, if you plan to keep it a while, it may make sense to get the last of the generation. I recently traded my 21 CX-5 for a 25 Telluride. I wanted the 25 as the 26 is all new (similar to the CX-5) and I don't like buying a first year model. Good luck with your new ride.

I wouldn't want to support some idea's people have.....
There is not really any evidence supporting that the first year of a model on any platform is more problematic then the second of more years of the same model. This is a lifetime MYTH!
In fact, it can be more so that the second year after a new model is released that problems or other services, safety are found under recalls i.e. safety and service recalls and such need to be addressed. Forums are great place that support this information! As well generally speaking the many TSB and TSB updates that are frequently posted but seldom actually read completely by members. In that most are VIN specific but not model and even VIN entirety.

If someone disagree, please don't just post randomly found internet information unless you do the research in the source of it and who is actually submitting the information. AI and a professional media writer or a "joe/Jane" average person is not a good source of fact-based information.

I mean from a logical standpoint who would ever buy another vehicle ever..... rolmao.

For me, I would rather wait 2-3 years into a generation to see what issues come up if possible. It's really helpful to see what owners notice and can fix .

This as well as the other member only happens on forums not ITRW.
I have purchased several brand-new model vehicles and while I personally did not encounter an engineered design error it not to say that most all of them either had or had not items that would have been better suited for my personality.
I have not gotten interested in anything post 2018 for Mazda yet! And as for servicing known issues, we still get very few out of warranty for them regarding defect or engineering flaws. And this does not include TSB which I explained in the other response.

Interesting thread reads. You can get a feel for what our members think to some degree.
