Default Smart city break questions

Have had a 2021 Signature 5 days and can't tell if Smart City Brake is working. Doesn't slow or stop the car in traffic at red lights, no warnings to brake. Adaptive cruise control works as expected. Am I missing something?

Did you break your brakes already?

I've been afraid to test mine, just in case it doesn't work correctly the one time I test it. I'm just saving it for emergencies. Figure my auto insurance company will appreciate that gesture rather than rear ending repairs.

I was expecting a stop and go feature like I have on my Infiniti QX50. So far my Mazda has not automatically applied the brakes unless I'm using cruise control.

The adaptive cruise control is Mazda's version of stop and go, you just have to remember to turn it on.

My SCBS works fine, in fact it activated on me this morning with a warning beep first - I was not using ACC at the time - when a car in front of me hit his brakes very hard when he almost missed his turn. A month ago it activated when it thought I was approaching a stopped car too quickly.

BTW the safe way to test it is to place a large empty cardboard box on the road. DO NOT test it approaching a real car!

Mine shows me it's working sometimes when I go in to my garage a little too fast for it. Scares the heck out of me!

That's probably a quote from the lawyer-written owners manual. LOL
